Longtime Industry Innovator Will Get Outstanding Contribution To Advancing Post Production Award At November 1 HPA Awards in L.A.
Emory Cohen is a widely recognized innovator, businessman, and teacher who has helped shape the post-production industry. Many fundamental post-production methods and practices in sound, sound editing, film and video completion were first conceived and implemented by Emory Cohen. This is particularly true of his enabling work in high definition and the development of 24P technology for motion pictures and television. Emory has received numerous industry awards for his innovative work, including the Motion Picture Academy’s Scientific and Technical Achievement Award and several TV Academy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering.
During the span of his career, Emory has held executive positions with Glen Glenn Sound (VP-Operations), Compact Video Services (President), Image Transform (President), Pacific Video (President), and Laser Pacific Media Corp. (President and CEO).
On his award, Cohen commented, “At every step of my career I have worked with teams of the best and brightest individuals, and have been supported by the best customers, vendors, directors and, of course, family members, I could wish for. I believe that, together, we have made a positive contribution to our industry and will continue to do so in the future. For those of us on the technical side of the business there are easily as many interesting and rewarding challenges ahead of us as have ever existed in the past. I am deeply honored by the recognition from the HPA, especially in receiving the first of these awards.”
