Post-production sound company Formosa Group said today that it is re-opening the former Pacific Ocean Post (POP) Sound facility in Santa Monica with some former POP staff on board. POP Sound was shuttered in July by its owner, Empire Investment Holdings, following the bankruptcy of Soundelux.
"We are pleased to re-open this outstanding post-production sound faclity," said Formosa Group President and COO Robert C. Rosenthal in a prepared statement. "With this addition, we will now have an expanded west-side presence. It also enables the core clientele to continue their great work here with many of the accomplished creative artists and support staff formerly associated with POP."
The facility has 10 mixing stages, eight voiceover booths and one ADR stage, according to Formosa. It's expected to be reopened in time for "an early August launch," the company said.
Formosa Group was formed last year by parent company Picture Head with offices on The Lot in West Hollywood and locations in West L.A. and Burbank.
