A convolutional neural network allows computer algorithms to render the content of a given image using style characteristics of a completely different image without human intervention beyond specifying the sources. Bhautik Joshi used the technique to render scenes from 2001: A Space Odyssey in the style of Pablo Picasso, with interesting results. (See also: Blade Runner in the style of Starry Night by Van Gogh.)
