Bella Catapult video capture device for iPods

Hook up your iPod as a recording device for DV or HDV cameras with the Bella Catapult. The sub-$300 Catapult, slated to ship later this year, connects to the camera via FireWire, and to a disk drive such as the iPod (or some other 2.5-inch HDD) via USB 2.0. It’s unclear how economical this really is — can’t a shooter of even modest means do better than a $400 60 GB MP3 player for raw storage? — but there’s no denying the cool factor of anything that touches the iPod. Features include time-lapse recording, remote-triggering via a switch or motion detector, and a pre-record feature that records continuously to the disk so you get some time to hit that record button without missing an action shot.
