Sounds like SONY has a winner! It's nice to have a unit field tested, with Instant feedback to the manufacturer, by someone in the real world who has , over time put camera's through their paces and can offer constructive suggestions and have them adopted sooner than later, nice article.

If Ken endorses this camera, you can bet it's a great unit! I've known Ken professionally for 11 years and he is the best 'shooter' I've ever worked with. His attention to detail in his craft and his equipment is unparalleled. In real world deployment of this equipment, If Ken Cavalli wants to use it then Sony has deffinately, 'won a gold medal'!

We took delivery of our PDW-700 in late November and used it right away for a week long "white limbo" studio shoot. Our client monitor was a Sony LMD-2050 with HD-SDI. The pictures this camera makes are absolutely stunning and we blew our client away! I'm a little disappointed with the LCD panel on the camera, it's not a great improvement over the LCD's found on the SD XDCAM's. Just a heads up: don't skimp on your lens purchase. We used a $10K HD lens on this camera and were disappointed with how soft the edges were. Spend the money on good HD glass and enjoy all of the beautiful imagery this camera can create!
