Canopus, now part of the Grass Valley business within Thomson, is
offering HD editing professionals a free 30-day trial of its PC-based
EDIUS Pro NLE software. EDIUS Pro 3 gives users the ability to perform
native editing and real-time processing of uncompressed SD, HD, HDV,
DV, MPEG-2, and MPEG-1 formats.
The latest version, EDIUS Pro 3 v3.6.1, enables native 1080i, 1080p and
720p HDV support and mixed-format editing. It also offers advanced
metadata support, real-time native editing and I/O support for
standard-definition Sony XDCAM, and SD and HD with Panasonic's DVCPRO
P2 system.
Leveraging the company's variable-bitrate Canopus HQ codec, EDIUS Pro 3
lets editors mix video content in multiple HD and SD formats and work
with unlimited video, audio and effects layers. There's also the
capability to perform real-time batch capture from 1080i HDV cameras
and decks, advanced audio tools, and a variety of color-correction
controls.
Anyone interested can download the trial software (also available on CD) at http://www.canopus.com.
