Arriflex 416 Weighs Less Than Its Predecessors
Film’s not dead ‘ Arri announced a brand-new entrant in its Super 16 camera line-up at NAB this week with the introduction of the ARRIFLEX 416. The new camera weighs just over 12 pounds, 25 percent less than the Arriflex 16 SR3 Advanced, the company said, and is very quiet ‘ less than 20 dbA. It runs at speeds from 1 to 75 fps, and its shutter can be adjusted from 45 to 180 degrees.
The 416 comes in two configurations ‘ the 416 Plus includes integrated accessories (motor electronics and a wireless radio), and Arri expects that model to account for some 80 percent of sales. Recognizing that almost nobody shoots 16mm because they’re looking to spend more money on film production, Arri said the price of the new camera will be similar to that of existing models.
It uses a 54mm PL mount and ships at the end of the year.
