JVC has added new features and functionality to its popular GY-HD100U HDV camcorder and re-released it as the GY-HD110U for $6,295.00.
New features include a new black-and-white viewfinder display mode; simultaneous use of both eyepiece viewfinder and tri-mode LCD display (when powered by a battery system); and a choice of three image formats on the composite output (letterbox, squeeze, or side cut).
There's also a new selectable mirror mode on the vertically flipped LCD display; adjustable settings for Focus Assist; selectable DNR on/off menu setting; a 13-segment audio level indicator; manual audio control when using the camcorder's "full auto shooting" mode; an audio limiter that works in manual mode; and parallel power-off management of the optional DR-HD100 hard-disk recorder (from Focus Enhancements).
The new GY-HD110U looks and feels the same as the GY-HD100U, and continues to include "true" 24p recording, 1280 x 720 HD image capture; interchangeable lenses with a bayonet mount; three 1/3-inch native HD CCDs; outputs in multiple HD formats, including 1080i; and time-code display.
JVC said the GY-HD110U, which is now available, can use all accessories designed for the HD100 series of camcorders, including lenses and battery system adapters, with no modifications necessary.
