Media 100 has begun shipping its HD Suite editing systems-a line that offers 10-bit uncompressed HD and SD editing capabilities and new support for broadcast-quality format conversions.
Known as version 11.0 and including the Media 100 HD Suite, Media HDe and Media 100 SDe systems, the new release is also a first step towards native integration with the Boris FX product line, bringing the compositing and effects technology seamlessly within the Media 100 interface. (Boris FX bought Media 100 from previous owner Optibase last year.)
The new system supports Apple's Mac OS X operating system and AJA OEM audio/video boards, which offer accelerated rendering, improved image quality, and flexible configuration options. AJA users can import audio into their systems using a single cable, eliminating the need for additional hardware.
Media 100 editors can mix HD and SD media with real-time format and aspect ratio conversion on input and output. Support for compressed HD enables the editors to edit in native HD without having to scale or add offline storage.
The Composite Suite that comes with the Media 100 HD Suite is a 3D-compositing, titling and effects application that combines advanced compositing, vector titling, paint, robust 3D creation and animation.
The new version 11 release supports hardware-based 1080-to-720 or 720-to-1080 cross-conversions for Media HD Suite users. Editors can mix various codecs in the timeline and play with high image quality in real-time. There is support for uncompressed 10-bit and 8-bit 4:2:2; DVCPro, DV, and JPEG B codecs.
The Media 100 HD Suite is now available and priced at $5,995.
