Editor Frank Effron of Cut + Run steps up to answer Five Questions.
1. What are you working on today?
Qwest Communnications.

2. What have you found is the best tool or innovation that has come out in the last year?

There is an internet service for posting cuts called "Abeast". It has replaced posting to clunky FTP sites by allowing a more user friendly interface. Especially useful for multi-platform file sharing.

3. The project (film, television, commercial or music video) that most impressed you in the last year? Why?

"An Inconvenient Truth" Because we can no longer afford to ignore global warming.
And I saw how much work went into the making of it. Miles of footage to sift through. When edited down it was a pleasure to watch.

4. The best or favorite project that you worked on in the past year? And why?

I cut a "Bank of Hawaii" spot on location in Waikiki. Living Aloha.

5. Name the top 4 artists on your iPod?
Iron Maiden
Weird War
David Allan Coe

Recent Project
Cut + Run's Frank Effron Edits LA County Fair Campaign
Cut + Run's Frank Effron recently completed a series of spots promoting the LA County Fair. The LA County Fair, you say? A County Fair…in Los Angeles? Yes indeed. This event, where such hijinx as pig racing, concerts, corndogs, wine tasting, and a Texas Hold 'em tournament comes to the land known as LA LA, runs from September 8 through October 1, 2006.

To promote what is well-loved by many and is assumed to be a contradiction to others, agency Ideaology created a campaign that embraces the clichà©s of Los Angeles. In "Vegan" and "Cashmere," an ill-informed, plastic surgery laden mother, her daughter and a friend enjoy a day at the fair where they attempt to unlock the mysteries of livestock and classic fair snacks. Is cotton candy vegan? Have you ever seen Free Range Cashmere? And just what sound does the sheep make? All this and more will be unlocked at the LA County Fair – "It's just what LA Needs." Totally.
