A Low-Cost Hybrid
Broadcast Pix is now shipping the SLATE 100 switcher, a hybrid video production switcher and workstation that is outfitted for a single operator and sells for less than $10,000. Aimed at small broadcasters as well as corporate, educational and government facilities, SLATE 100 can be driven from mouse or a touchscreen- on site or remotely- through a soft-panel replica of an actual control panel, which sits on the screen below the company’s own "PixPanel" containing a VGA screen monitor wall layout, thumbnails and full-motion program and preview windows. A patent-pending computer card controls the pro switcher and the system’s clip stories, still stores and Inscriber character generator, producing 10-bit digital SDI video as well as analog YUV, S and Composite. And if you’d still like to work from a physical switcher panel, you can add one on as an option to this system. $9,995. www.broadcastpix.com
