NEC LCD Technologies has developed a 3.5-inch, quarter-high-definition (QHD) system-on-glass (SOG) liquid crystal display (LCD) module for HD camera viewfinders and other mobile devices.
Before this breakthrough, NEC said, it was difficult to produce small LCD displays with critical specifications for broadcasting monitoring. With SOG technology, instrumentation has been integrated into the display, allowing it to display critical camera information.

Successful mass-production trials for the new low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) thin-film-transistor (TFT) color LCD modules began at NEC Akita in Japan on October 1 and were shown to Japanese manufacturers in mid-November.

For viewing larger images in the edit bay, JVC Pro has introduced a new 24-inch HD monitor that features a 1920×1080 resolution with 10-bit advanced image processing, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 178-degree viewing angle, and inputs including HDCP-enabled DVI-D, component, composite and two high-end HD/SD auto-switching SDIs (serial digital interfaces). It goes on sale in December for $4,677.

JVC Pro also announced the DE-V20L1D, a 20-inch version of the monitor with a 1680×1050 panel and 800:1 contrast ratio for $3,402. It’s expected to ship in late January.
