Plug Was Pulled in 2003

It was in 2003 when Adobe, feeling it could no longer compete with Apple’s Final Cut editing software, pulled the plug on the Mac version of its Premiere video editing application.
Now, in a reversal, the San Jose, CA software company has announced that the next version of Adobe Production Studio, the integrated video and audio post-production tool set that is part of the Creative Suite family, will be available for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms.

Film, video and web creators currently using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator on the Mac will soon be able to finish their work with Adobe Premiere Pro, Encore DVD and Soundbooth.

The beta software had its first public demonstration during the recent Macworld show in San Francisco. The release of the completed suite is scheduled for mid-2007. No price was announced.

Adobe Production Studio creates a post workflow optimized between the various Adobe applications. One new feature for the Mac is Adobe Dynamic Link, a feature that eliminates the need for rendering when moving motion graphics and visual effects from After Effects to the real-time HD, SD and DV editing environment in Premiere Pro and Encore DVD.

A key strength comes from how Adobe bundles its software offerings, grouping major industry standards like Photoshop and After Effects.
