Panasonic’s new AJ-HPX2000 P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorder features 24p frame rate and can hold up to five P2 cards. It is also switchable between DVCPRO HD/50/25 and DV, as well as the new AVC-Intra codec (an intra-frame 10-bit encoding that gives you comparable DVCPRO HD quality at half the bit rate, while doubling recording time per P2 card). The multi-format AJ-HPX2000 features a native HD progressive 2/3-inch 3-CCD system and records in 1080i, 720p, 480i, 576i and a total of 17 HD and SD formats. AVC-Intra comes in two data rate flavors: 100 Mbps and 50 Mbps. The AJ-HPX2000 will be available this month. $27,000
