Dual-link HD recorder with Embedded Audio Playout

At NAB (booth C4934), Astrodesign of Toyko will display a new uncompressed, dual-link HDTV video recorder that’s ideal for digital cinematography, sports broadcasting, VFX and telecine transfer.
The Astro HR-7401 offers up to 20 minutes of dual-link (RGB 4:4:4) HD or 40 minutes of 4:2:2 HD record capacity on a removable disk pack. The unit incorporates fibre-channel, FireWire and video output for material transfer between other video and computing devices.

The remote-control RS422 protocol conforms to Sony standards, making it suitable for use with third-party controllers, including slow-motion devices. A companion Astro remote-control box allows the recorder to operate in the same way as a traditional VTR.

Weighing 26 pounds, the half-rack unit can handle virtually any video format. A 3840 x 2160 image can be recorded and played by synchronizing four units together. As an accompanying product, Astro also offers the DM-3400, a 56-inch 4K2K (3840 x 2160) 60Hz LCD display. Its brightness, gamma and color temperature are adjustable by remote control.

The recorder can record and play up to 16 channels of embedded audio. When used with the remote control, sound can be monitored by headphones or built-in speakers. The unit can also be equipped with an option HDMI connector.

In the U.S., Astrodesign is represented by Astro Systems in Baldwin Park, CA.
