Compact and multi-format, Panasonic’s new AV-HS300G SD/HD live switcher
is aimed at live event productions, sports, music videos and cable
shows, as well as broadcast facilities transitioning from SD to HD. The
AV-HS300G, now shipping, is compatible with all major formats-
1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 720/59.94p, 720/50p, 480/59.94i (NTSC) and
576/50i (PAL). It’s also designed for mid- to low-level production
budgets.
The switcher comes with six inputs (five HD/SD SDI and one DVI/RGB),
three HD/SD SDI outputs, an Ethernet connection, a tally output, RS-422
control and a built-in, 10-bit, 6-channel frame synchronizer that
adjusts automatically (external genlock synchronization is also
available also). You also get nine wipe patterns with three directional
wipes. $7,990.

line of Slate switchers. The new AutoAspect lets 16:9 and 4:3 inputs,
clips and graphics be used interchangeably and mixed together in the
same production. The Slate will keep your original aspect ratios
intact, and can even be extended to simultaneously output both sizes.
The company is also announcing a new HD-SD I/O board, which will enable
all Slate switchers to add HD-SDI cameras and produce a high-definition
show. AutoAspect is available now as a free software upgrade, and the
new HD-SD I/O board is expected to be available in late 2007 for

and computer signals up to WXGA- 8 inputs in total. You select the
output format, whether 1080i, 720p or a variety of RGB formats up to
WXGA (1366 x 768). The unit features an up-converter and scaler, which
unifies diverse video sources into one image. The unit also features an
array of transition effects, tally interface, picture-in-picture
features and luma/chroma keyer for overlaying graphics/text. If you

switcher. The SE-1000, which has both HD and SD outputs, supports live
production from a mixture of up to 4 HD and/or SD cameras, plus one
computer and one still store. Though all of its internal processing is
done in HD, it’s ideal for venues with live HD projection and an
audience that needs SD "take away" DVDs or SD for live Webcasting. It
also includes a linear-key and self-key effect for easy titling or logo
insertion and use with an external character generator. The SE-1000 is
sold as a standalone with monitors and monitor racks, cases, or as a
part of mobile studio package.
