The bane of my existance as a videographer is shaky shots, and the cause of much of this is the handycam form factor.  How can you be expected to hold something steady when it is perched on the end of your wrist, elbow and shoulder?  Of course, the classic answer is “tripod,” but even an old stick-in-the-mud like me can admit that sometimes you can’t use a tripod.  Well, there are lots of products out there to try and remove the shakes, and the guys at Hoodman have found an especially clever one.  The WristShot looks like those hard-shell braces you see on pro bowlers to keep their wrists still, but adds a monopod-like camera attachment on the inside of the wrist.  Attach a quick-release to the camera base, snap it to the WristShot, adjust and lock down the four adjustment points, and bingo!  Your shots are immediately much steadier.  And a big bonus is that when you aren’t shooting, you can dangle your arm and the camera stays put.  List price is $189.99.
