Just prior to NAB, Matrox announced a software update to its MXO. The version 2.0 software now allows for callibration of the DVI output. This makes me much more confident doing color correction on my Apple Cinema display.
The new software also features 1:1 pixel mapping and support for Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 on the Mac. That also means that After Effects output through the MXO is now available on Intel-based Macs as well as the old PowerPC models.
It’s no secret I’m a huge MXO fan. It fits into my workflow by allowing me the ability to output HD-SDI from my MacBook Pro. It’s a lot easier to lug the laptop and a FW800 or eSATA RAID to a facility, than to lug an HDCAM deck to my studio. I’m really surprised this little box hasn’t generated more buzz.
