Another Way to Get Data Off PCMCIA Cards and Into Your Computer

For those using Panasonic’s P2 solid-state recording system who don’t have a PCMCIA slot on their computer, there’s a workaround. A company called Duel-Systems (a division of Methode Electronics located in San Jose, CA) makes a DuelAdapter. It fits in 34mm or 54mm ExpressCard slots and works with standard 32-bit CardBus cards and 16-Bit PCMCIA cards.
It’s designed to connect the latest generation of ExpressCard notebook computers with existing PCMCIA cards, like Panasonic’s P2 cards.

Steve Cooperman, product line business manager for P2 systems, also recommends setting the camera to “host” mode and transferring content to a disk drive. Alternately, you can set the camera to “device” mode and use the camera like a PCD20 P2 Drive.
