"I've worked for large companies most of my career, but was drawn to the personal and hands-on creative process here at Northern Lights," says Hengeveld. "Over the years, I've seen the continuous stream of great work coming out of this company, and the talented people behind it. [Northern Lights Partners] David [Gioiella] and Mark [Littman] are always working on an interesting and meaningful mix of projects and I'm excited to be involved."
Hengeveld was most recently a Smoke Artist at Sony BMG where he steadily worked on broadcast promos for VH1 and VH1 Classic over the past five years. He launched his career at Creative Technology after graduating with a Communications major from Ashland College in Ohio. Heeding the call to return to New York, Hengeveld joined National Video Center where he enjoyed a successful 16-year run as Editor and served as Lead Editor for one of its divisions, Telezign. He was part of the Emmy Award-winning team for the Lillehammer Olympics, as well as a commercial for CBS Sports.
"My work has always been an integration of graphics and video, which complements the Northern Lights approach," concludes Hengeveld. "The Smoke enables me to give clients After Effects and Flame-style effects, and to continue doing the editing that I love to do."
