Sony has recently announced their upcoming so-called “HD video Walkman”, or the GV-HD700E, a high-end portable VTR capable of playing HDV and miniDV tapes. With its HDV compatibility, the deck is the first of its kind, and it sports a hearty 7-inch widescreen LCD with a resolution of 800×480.
If we can ignore the rather strange “Walkman” naming ploy, the feature set of the GV-HD700E is complete with an “all-scan” function, allowing for a complete and uncropped video footage review. The device also features a range of inputs and outputs, including Firewire 400 input/output, HDMI and component inputs and outputs, and S-Video and composite inputs.
Although the expected price is still unknown, the GV-HD700E will be available in Europe in September, with a US release expected sometime soon after. Check out the press release for more details and specs.
