Light meters are not a typical accesory carried around by many digital videographers, but these tools can be a valuable addition to your camera kit while on the set. FresHDV has kindly assembled a handy video describing how to calibrate a light meter for digital video. As is noted, light meters are traditionally used primarily by still photographers and cinematographers shooting on film, but a digital video camera’s settings can be somewhat easily translated to work with a meter.
Check out the video for a nice overview of the necessary calibration steps. This will be most useful to shooters working on sets with static lighting.
