The good folks over at www.avid2fcp.com have posted a very long and very handy article on the “changeover challenges” that one might expect when moving from Avid applications (Xpress Pro, Media Composer) to Final Cut Pro. It takes a really broad overview of the two applications and tries to pretty much touch on most everything an editor might need to know when wanting to switch apps. It’s got enough good info in there that an Avid expert and FCP newcomer could leave the article open for reference and limp their way through a simple FCP edit without totally pulling their hair out. Combine that with some of the smaller Avid vs. FCP articles I’ve posted on the Editblog and that’s about all one might want to know about the differences in the two applications.
