Here‘s a great link for all the DIY-ers out there. Over the years, lots of enterprising (or maybe cash-strapped?) filmmakers have taken on the challenge of creating familiar and useful filmmaking equipment from scratch with common parts. And many of these DIY exploits are well-proven and popular, or have even reached a status of near fame, like the $14 steadicam.

Some of these may prove to be worth the effort, although they might not be able to compete with their expensive professional counterparts. But, it’s worth a look!
