G-Technology (G-Tech), a supplier of external disk storage for Mac and PC, is now shipping a new G-SPEED eS storage system featuring 4 7200 RPM Hitachi SATA II drives with up to 32 MB/cache. An optional 4-port PCIe x4 RAID controller can enable up to four G-SPEED eS units to be attached to a single workstation for storage capacities up to 16 TB. Using the G-Tech RAID controller, one unit supports video playback performance in DV, HDV, DVCPRO HD, REDCODE, ProRes 422, and uncompressed SD playback in RAID 0 or 5 mode. $999 (and up, depending on configuration).
