studio/monthly. Tell us a little bit about your latest product launch, the Type-S jib. How did you develop your design?
Kevin: The design was developed by professional Steadicam operator, Andy Monteja. Frankly, he was sick of the problems he ran into with conventional compact jibs, so he created his own from scratch with the help of Bobby Martin, machinist and trusted friend. Together, they were able to bring Andy’s creation to life. Bobby’s integrity in craftsmanship is amazing and his dedication to workmanship is next to none. Partnering with j michael media, LLC, as the exclusive dealer for the product is what brings the Type-S jib to the public eye.
sm. How did J Michael Media get started?
Michael: After working closely together on several video projects, Jared Clarke and Michael Isidro decided to form the company in 2006 to develop an HD Television Network. Jared’s technical savvy and strong background in video production worked seamlessly with Michael’s writing and creative strengths, and the addition of Kevin Stewart in the company’s early stages brought a talented marketing and sales leader to the team.
sm. What’s the one thing you wish people would take from seeing your presentation at NAB?
Kevin: I believe that our desire passers-by is to find, not only an effective and practical tool in the Type-S jib; but, to identify and connect with us individually. We are a very unique team and our values and personalities are well represented in our products and services.
sm. Can you give us a preview of what we might see from you in the future?
Jared: Right now, our next release will be the Type-S Self-Leveling Monitor Bracket. This new bracket keeps the viewing angle of LCD monitors on target no matter what direction you move it. We will also be releasing a heavy-duty stand for the Type-S Jib that will negate any weight limits imposed by a users tripod.
