If you happen to get a lot of compressed archives sent to you as a matter of editing, from graphics people, agencies, producers and who ever else might send you files in any given day, then I have always thought that looking inside those compressed files to see exactly what is in there would be a handy thing. I’m sure there are utilities for this but nothing can be easier than the BetterZip Quick Look Genertor. This little extension extends the functionality of QuickLook in MacOS 10.5 Leopard. Just drop it in the Library/QuickLook folder, then single click on an archive that it can read, press the spacebar and you can see what’s inside. Simple and handy. What archives does it support? From the developers website:
The currently supported archive formats are: ZIP, TAR, GZip, BZip2, ARJ, LZH, ISO, CHM, CAB, CPIO, RAR, 7-Zip, DEB, RPM, StuffIt’s SIT, DiskDoubler, BinHex, and MacBinary.
Best of all it’s a freebie, those prices on the right side of the developers site is for other products. And for even more control over archives check out the other product BetterZip.
