“It will also greatly benefit post houses that are currently using Truelight with Baselight for colour grading film and broadcast projects. It will enable them to seamlessly apply that same colour management to their compositing and visual effects workstations.” Postma added that licenses for Truelight Unlimited are priced to be affordable to post houses of all sizes.
Truelight comprises a comprehensive suite of colour management tools for calibrating electronic displays, emulating film and broadcast looks, calibrating projection systems, and managing colour on set. Truelight enables artists, colourists, cinematographers and directors to review, accurately, the final film or broadcast look at any point in the production or post-production process ‘ reducing film-outs, matching and rework, and saving valuable time.
Truelight Unlimited adds the ability to export 3D LUTs compatible with such applications as Autodesk’s Lustre and Flame as well as third-party hardware solutions such as Black Magic Design’s HDLink Pro. Previously, users seeking to create LUTs for third-party applications were required to use FilmLight’s Truelight Software Development Kit. Additionally, Truelight will include scientifically researched looks for emulating special and obsolete film processes, such as bleach by-pass and 2-strip and 3-strip Technicolor.
