Most were expecting the release of Scarlet, a lower cost version of Red One (though probably not as low as around $3,000), but Red once again surprised everyone by pushing the high end with the release of Epic, a 5K camera. Purchasers of Red One can get credit for the full purchase price of Red One. Epic is estimated to cost $30,000. Additionally, Red announced the optical disck drive Red Ray that will play back K, 2K, 1080p, 720p, SD and the native R3D Code files. All three products are expected to be released early 2009.
