I recently mentioned the FCP Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion as a useful tool to trash, save and manage preferences in Final Cut Pro and pretty much all of the Final Cut Studio applications. They recently updated to include the one particular feature that is the most handy of all … the ability to back up “FCP button bars, keyboard layouts, column layouts, window layouts, track layouts, custom settings and user plugins.” Back these guys up and then take them from system to system and you’ll never be without your special settings. If you’re like me you’ve taken years to refine them and just having them on a current system means I can be a lot more of an efficient editor.
