Frantic
Films VFX, a division of Prime Focus Group, today announced the commercial
release of Deadline 3.0, the company's hassle-free administration and
rendering toolkit for Windows and now, Linux and Mac OSX-based render
farms. Deadline 3.0, developed by the in-house software division of Frantic
Films VFX, will be showcased at the Frantic Films VFX booth, #1323 during
the SIGGRAPH conference from August 12-15, 2008 at the Los Angeles
Convention Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
In addition to support for Windows, the latest version of Deadline now runs
on Linux and Mac OSX platforms-one of the most in-demand requests from its
growing roster of customers. Deadline 3.0 also includes 64-bit support,
upgrade to .NET 2.0 and the ability to run Deadline as a Service.

Said Visual Effects Supervisor Matt Estela, who outfitted his post facility
with Deadline while working on the award-winning BBC miniseries Jackanory,
“Before using Deadline, managing our render farm was a real thorn in my
side. I’ve since become a total Deadline evangelist and sing its praises to
the heavens because it just works. We never have to worry about what we
push through the render farm. I leave it running overnight, and when I look
at the logs in the morning, I’d see that Deadline was doing a massive
amount of behind-the-scenes housekeeping. Deadline is simply brilliant.”

it gives facilities peace of mind because Deadline enables them to get the
job done, on time.”
