With Blackmagic Design Cards, Softron MovieRecorder Captures Two Sources Simultaneously

Facilities can increase their ingest capacity without buying new workstations by using two Blackmagic Design Decklink cards in a single MacPro computer running two instances of Softron MovieRecorder. When run in a shared-storage environment, multiple users can have access to the recording station and the ingested footage without investments in extra hardware, the Brussels-based Softron says.
MovieRecorder ($1,095) supports scheduled recordings, as well as the ability to edit clips as they’re captured using Final Cut Pro. Live capture can take place in a number of common formats, including uncompressed SD/HD, DVCPRO HD (50 Mbps), MPEG-4, and ProRes. Softron’s MovieRecorder Control software lets you monitor and control multiple ingest stations on a network. Decklink HD cards start at $995.

MovieRecorder is aimed at a range of facility types, including broadcasters, educational institutions, and post houses.
