Teq AV/IT is helping reduce cable confusion with the TPH372, an HDMI-DVI Extender that allows HDMI or DVI to be run over a long length of a single CAT6 cable – without the second cable that’s normally required for carrying HDCP and DDC information. The company says the TPH372 enables single-cable 1080p HD runs up to 130 feet, or 40 meters.
The system consists of the TTH172 transmitter, which is attached to an HD source, such as a PC, a Blu-ray player, a digital signage player, or other media player via 19-pin HDMI connector. (It’s a learning transmitter that provides the display’s DDC information to the source.) The transmitter then outputs the signal via CAT6 HD Digital cable to the TRH271 receiver, which receives the signal and outputs it again over HDMI, with built-in gain and equalization controls. The accompanying audio signal is transmitted digitally with no loss.
Teq rates the signal at 130 feet for 1080p, 165 feet for 1080i, and 200 feet for 720p. CAT6 cable is preferred, but the company says CAT5e cable is “acceptable.”
The TPH372 is HDMI v1.3 and HDCP compliant. The system also supports DVI at up to WUXGA (1920×1440) resolution.
List price for the receiver/transmitter pair is $399. For more information: www.teqavit.com/TPH372.html
