How did you develop the TorchLED? Was it in response to a certain lack or need in the market?
We wanted to provide an energy efficient lighting solution for multiple uses. Rather than making a light for a sole application, we decided to make a universal light fixture, which can be mounted virtually anywhere by
anything with a 1/4-20 thread mount. People like being able to purchase a piece of equipment and then use it for many purposes, which increase the value of the piece. It also opens our business up a lot more.
How does the TorchLED "Ring system" work?
Our TL-68 and TL-88 light fixtures are outfitted with the proprietary LED 'Ring' System. Each base has inside threads as well as the proper connections to accept the LED 'Rings' available. This gives you the ability
to switch between various color temperatures and between spot and flood simply by changing the front of the fixture. In the event the LED ring is damaged the cost to replace the unit is far less since you are only
replacing the front and not the entire fixture.
What makes the lights energy efficient?
The TorchLED light fixtures are built with LEDs(light emidding diodes)
which provide equivalent light to that of tungsten, yet draws much less
power, and creates less heat during use.
Can you tell us about a few of your other new products?
We have recently updated our GP-TS Hotswap adapter to be fully compatible
with RED Camera use. The GP-TS Hotswap adapter mounts directly to the
existing v-type plate on the camera and allows for continuous battery
operation for the RED ONE. The Adapter passes battery data from a RED BRICK
to the RED ONE. Because the batteries aren't 'stacked' on one another, you
can easily remove the depleted battery while the leaving the other battery
connected so that their is no down time. Coming in the beginning of the new
year we will have a battery solution for the Sony PMW-EX1/EX3. This Battery
will be equppied with a higher power capacity and a 4 LED power gauge.
