Bicoastal international multimedia and content creation firm Crossroads has added award-winning Welsh Director Stuart Rideout to their already impressive roster. Rideout also holds a directorial slot at UK production company RSA where he collaborates with such leading agencies as BBH, Leagas Delaney, BMP, TBWA, M&C Saatchi, DDB, Deutsch, Arnold Worldwide and Abbot Mead Vickers for brands such as Playstation, Canon, Bahamas Tourist Board, Kodak, Tropicana and Suzuki. It was at his own design-based production company, Mighty, that Rideout won many of his awards. That venture came shortly after his first gig out of college as an assistant to Creative Director Martin Lambie-Nairn of Lambie-Nairn & Co. While at the firm, Rideout worked with such clients as BBC1, BBC2, TV001 TV3 and Channel 4 creating primarily television brand identity, logos and television brand solutions.
Stuart has won several awards including the International Monitor award for best TV corporate identity, D&AD award for best on-screen identity, Promax Gold; Silver and Bronze for his TV identity work, BDA Gold award for best program title sequence, and lastly a BAFTA and Royal Television Award for his work on The Children’s Channel on-screen identity. Rideout has been included in Shots’ Up and Coming Directors list as well as in Campaign’s Ones to Watch. Currently, Stuart is in the development stages of a feature film with actor/producer, Frank Harper. He has also helmed several music videos-winning a Best Dance Video award from MTV for Chase the Sun by Planet Funk, as well as short films-winning first prize at the Portobello Film Festival for Arachnid.
Crossroads Owner/EP Cami Taylor shares her thoughts on the addition, “This is possibly our most exciting and important signing in a long time. Stuart is an exceedingly smart, talented director and just a wonderful person. Both he and his producer, Scott Horan, fit into the Crossroads culture perfectly.”
Rideout shares Taylor’s enthusiasm “I knew that Crossroads had an amazing reputation. When I met Cami, I recognized a kindred spirit in respects to work ethic, attitude, and sense of humor. To me, all these qualities are vital to the experience of filmmaking and truly contribute to my development as a director.”
In college, Rideout majored in Graphic Design and received several awards including a Fiji, and a D&AD. Stuart was an accomplished athlete in Rugby and track, and at the age of nine discovered his true love of filmmaking by creating Super 8 horror films.
