Sutton said that he expects the alliance to be a boon to Frantic as it will provide it with direct access to Broadway’s huge store of creative and technical resources. A former senior producer at MTV Networks, Sutton added that what he brings to the relationship is experience in brand building. “Strong strategic thinking can give us the edge over other design companies,” Sutton said. “We know how to build branding design systems that can grow and adapt with the needs of cable, broadcast or advertising accounts.”
Additionally, Sutton said, the relationship has facilitated a flexible approach toward media production. “We can contract and expand as the project needs,” he said. “It keeps us nimble and competitive.”
“I can be blended into Katherine’s design team, or if I need support, I can blend them into mine,” he added. “The combinations are infinite and that gives us a lot of strength.”
Sutton’s background includes creative corporate stints with MTV Networks and TruTV (formerly CourtTV), as well as senior vendor-side creative posts with Oscar-winning film studio Shooting Gallery and interactive agency Organic. His work on MTV Networks’ 2007 Upfront won a Gold Promax Award. He has also won a New York Festivals Award, a CTAM Mark Award, an American Graphic Design Award and several Telly Awards.
Through Frantic Studio, Sutton has garnered success as a music video director, working with Sony/BMG artist Nicole Atkins and Warner Bros. artists Black Stone Cherry and The Parlor Mob. Additionally, he creates video art and his work has been featured at Brooklyn’s Mastel + Mastel Gallery and at the Rencontres Internationales in Paris and Berlin.
