New Workflow Makes it Easier to Work with AVCHD and HDV Footage
CineForm announced Neo Scene for Mac ($129), offering a new workflow for AVCHD and HDV camera footage. Since highly compressed AVCHD and HDV footage can be difficult to edit, especially on consumer and prosumer gear, CineForm has adapted its high-end intermediate-codec technology for the lower end of the market, converting the source footage into 10-bit CineForm QuickTime .MOV files with chroma upsampling from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 for easier color-correction and better chroma keys.
Optional settings allow users to select 24p or 25p for a cinema look, or to output to the ProRes file format instead of CineForm’s format. The system also supports the Canon 5D Mark II, which has garnered some interest as an interesting new way to capture high-resolution video footage.
The Windows version of Neo Scene was released earlier this year. Neo Scene is available for download, along with a fully-functional trial version, from www.cineform.com or through resellers and distributors.
