Panasonic will ship its new AG-HPX300 shoulder-mount camera this March for $10,700, a bargain when you consider what the company put inside this model. Built on the AVC-Intra codec, this P2 HD camcorder features master-quality 10-bit, 4:2:2 individual frame recording and native 1/3-inch, 2.2 megapixel imagers and records variable frame rates in the AVC-Intra, DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO and DV formats. Panasonic calls this chip “3MOS” for its unique bundling of three MOS devices for red, blue and green image capture, and claims that it is just as sensative as lower-density 1/3-inch imagers. Other features include two P2 slots, a well-balanced weight of 8 pounds, lower power consumption, Cine-Like Gamma modes borrowed from the VariCam, and the all-important ability to interchange your lenses. The unit comes standard with a Fujinon lens and has a five-year warranty. $10,700. For more details, go to www.studiodaily.com/10474.html.
