There’s another new timecode calculator to add to the (finally) growing list of timecode calcs for the iPhone. iTC Calc is one of the best yet with one big feature missing. It has all of the usual features of timecode calculators; addition, subtraction, division of timecode numbers … from the iTC Calc website:
- 2 modes: simple and complete
- supports 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50 & 60 frame rate
- converts between timecode and frame
- history
- offset utility
- duration utility
- TRT (total running time) calculator
- gorgeous & very intuitive interface
One nice feature is the offset utility. It’s a handy memory feature that holds any value you assign to the offset button for easy recall in calculations. A great interface change happens when you turn the iPhone landscape. A panel opens on the right of the calculator to reveal a history display (similar to what the built-in Avid calculator has):
or a Duration calculator that can tell you the timecode IN, timecode OUT or duration depending on which value you want to know.
There’s a host of frame rates available as well except for 23.98 and 59.94. Since this tool comes from Europe the developers aren’t familiar with these frame rates. Future support is planned and if you have any good links to help them learn about these American frame rates then please put them in the comments below.
iTCÂ Calc is available for $9.99 at the iTunes store (iTunes link). There’s also an iTC Calc Light (iTunes link) available for $2.99. Check the iTC Calc Light page for a comparison of the two tools. There’s also a spot on their webpage for iTC Pro. Makes me wonder what that might be!
