1 Beyond Announces Field Ingest/Playback System for P2 Workflows

1 Beyond™, Inc., a leading provider of digital video editing and compositing systems, today announced a new battery-operated addition to the recently-launched 1 Beyond Wrangler™ family of portable field ingest, editing and playback system for Panasonic P2 file-based workflows. Designed to meet the needs of video professionals working with file-based tapeless HD content ‘in the field’, the new battery-operated portable 1 Beyond Wrangler allows users to rapidly and reliably unload multiple P2 memory cards while they are out shooting on location. The complete 1 Beyond Wrangler product line including Wrangler Readers and Archive solutions will be showcased for the first time at NAB 2009 (Las Vegas Convention Center, April 20th to 23rd 2009) in booth SL8625.

Featuring dual hot-swappable internal smart batteries for up to 5 hours of runtime, the new portable P2 transfer system is completely self-contained and extremely easy to transport and set up as it requires no external disks, card readers or even power to plug in. A fully ruggedized unit contained in a heavy-duty metal, shock-resistant body with a shoulder strap case, the battery-operated Wrangler has a 15-inch monitor, a fold-down full size keyboard with numeric keypad and touchpad. The whole system is designed to fit into a custom roll-about case that can easily fit into standard airline overhead storage.

All 1 Beyond Wrangler systems feature the new 1 Beyond Wrangler ingest management software with an intuitive interface to allow users to quickly and automatically download their P2 cards while writing to multiple high performance 1 Beyond GoHDCart HD cartridges. GoHDCart cartridges are redundant and hot-swappable in rugged cast aluminum cases and can be read directly through an eSATA port or for convenience, in any of the 6 1 Beyond Wrangler Readers. Like the rest of the 1 Beyond Wrangler family, the new battery-operated system includes a solid state system and applications drive for ultra reliability, four simultaneous P2 card readers, a DVD burner (Blu-Ray available as an option), a second video port to connect an additional monitor or HD projector, 4 USB, Firewire and 2 Ethernet ports. For the audio portion of the playback, there is a built-in amplifier, speakers and external audio ports.

The battery-operated Wrangler is available immediately from 1 Beyond for just $7,995. It is compatible with all Mac and PC production workflows.
