Award-winning director Marc R. Wilkins joins Caviar , Los Angeles/Brussels/Amsterdam this month; Wilkins comes to Caviar from Paranoid US. The commercial, film and music video helmer has been directing for more than a decade, garnering numerous awards, including a Gold Lion at Cannes, Silver at the New York Festivals International, Promax and BDA Awards, among others. In the spot world, Wilkins has brought his artfully raw sensibility to work for such clients as Sprint, BMW, T-Mobile, Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola.
Born in 1976 in Bern, Switzerland with dual Swiss and British citizenship, Wilkins’ family moved to Germany during his early teens, where he first developed a love of photography. He left school to learn filmmaking the “practical way,” working with German film companies like Constantin Film, Olga Film and Bavaria Film. In 1997, Wilkins began directing fulltime after starting the production company Kinoherz with a group of like-minded filmmakers. Years of subsequent spots, short films and music videos lead to the director’s first major award in 2003: a Gold Lion at Cannes for his Doctors Without Borders PSA, “Game Over.” He was chosen for Cannes’ New Director’s Showcase that same year.
“Marc has the seasoned eye of a global citizen, yet still captures the undiscovered in his work,” comments Caviar EP Michael Sagol. “His sensibility easily crosses cultures.”

With his rigorous commitment to the camera and through an elegant use of postproduction and sound, Wilkins amuses himself and the viewer alike with a poetic touch of provocative surrealism. He currently resides in New York where he is developing his debut feature film, “Cold Sea.”
