Bicoastal production/design studio Blind builds their New York presence with the addition of 10-year industry veteran, Creative Director Richard Eng. Eng comes to Blind from Charlex, New York, where he served as Sr. Creative Director/VP. His playful and elegant style — showcased in campaigns for JC Penney, Verizon, Charles Schwab and Toshiba Regza — has been honored by AIGA, Creativity, BDA, Telly, Promax and One Show awards, to name a few. During his tenure at Charlex, Eng fostered the design and completion of the recent will.i.am/Al Gore music video, “Take Our Planet Back,” which debuted at Gore’s Green Inaugural Ball in January.
Based in New York, Eng will work in collaboration with Blind’s Santa Monica studio as well, to oversee projects both in New York and worldwide.
Notes Blind founder and Executive Creative Director Chris Do, “Richard has the perfect mix of design and artistic sensibility, intelligence and wit that makes him an ideal fit for Blind. He’s a natural leader, team player and great communicator. I have nothing but high hopes for what he will bring to our east coast office.”
Eng has followed Blind’s work for years. “I’m excited to be a part of a culture like Blind’s, that embraces a true creative process and encourages innovative thinking. Their impressive body of work is a testament to this approach; there is no house style, only a consistent ability to create engaging, memorable, relevant work that stands the test of time,” says Eng.
Eng’s career history includes stints as Creative Director at Fuel, where he opened their NY studio; as Art Director at Nick at Nite, Eng directed the network’s rebrand including a new logo. Before entering the professional world, Eng honed his talents at New York University’s ITP program.
