The Whitehouse is partnering with sought-after industry vets Kieran Walsh and Frank Devlin to open Carbon, a new integrated creative VFX and finishing house based in New York. The collaboration between award-winning designer and VFX artist Walsh and EP Devlin spans more than a decade, most recently at New York-based Version2 (V2), which shuttered earlier this year.
British-born Walsh studied graphics at the University of West England, Bristol, and got his start designing as a broadcast designer for national UK network ITV. He joined Riot Manhattan as Creative Director in 1994, moving to V2 (then Liquid Light) in 2002, as Creative Director and senior Inferno artist for the VFX/motion design division. Recent notable projects include designing the titles sequence and graphics for 2008 Academy Award ®-winning documentary “Taxi to the Dark Side,” a large-scale VFX installation for Grey Goose at London’s Heathrow Airport, the AICP awards show package, as well as numerous commercials for AT&T, Budweiser, GMC, Olay, Puma, Smirnoff and Target, plus music videos for Coldplay and Grace Jones, to name a few. Walsh was also named Quantel Artist of the Year in 2001 and his work has been honored with and multiple BDA and Telly awards.
Devlin comes to Carbon from Version2, where he was Head of Production for both the editorial and VFX divisions of the company having started its then-named FX/finishing arm Liquid Light, as a VP and Executive Producer in 1999. The New Jersey native launched his advertising career as a media planner, before segueing to production and visual effects, working as senior producer at Black Logic, NY for many years.

Devlin and Walsh’s backgrounds and experience provide a versatility and knowledge in editorial, visual effects and graphic design, which positions Carbon to be involved in the creative process from concept through to completion. “We knew we had the talent to offer a company the services they didn’t previously have at their beck and call. In today’s economy, the ability to offer strategic planning, production methodologies and shoot supervision streamlines the entire process. This enables Carbon to provide efficient, creative solutions from the beginning,” added Devlin.

“We’ve always been talent-driven, and now we’re creating a solution-driven option for our clients, where all the post creative can be completed under one roof,” notes Whitehouse partner/editor David Brixton. “With its pedigree, Carbon is positioned to be a strong stand-alone creative company.”
