Mounting System, Popular for Red One, Clamps to 15mm or 19mm Iris Rods
Element Technica’s V-Dock (starting at $250) is a new mounting system that’s designed to get rid of the gaffer tape and Velcro holding your camera accessories on board. The company developed an early fan base among Red One users, but the V-Dock system can be used with other digital cameras, too.
The main V-Dock assembly (pictured), which features a female V-Lock interface and spring-loaded split clamp, comes in models that mount on 15mm or 19mm iris rods. Once attached, any item equipped with a matching V-Lock interface can be stuck on.
Common uses for the mount, according to the company, include the Element Technica Red Drive Shock Mount System, which combines with the ISO-plate shock mount to eliminate dropped frames in demanding shooting situations. The Element Technica Aluminum Battery Interface Plate allows a power source to be mounted anywhere along the camera’s iris rods. And Element’s V-Dock AJA mounting plater lets users mount an AJA mini-converter on the camera rig.
