Built-in Dual-Screen Multiviewer Supports Up to 20 Images
Panasonic announced the final specs on its new high-performance live switcher, the two-RU AV-HS450 ($25,500), at InfoComm last week. The unit has 16 SD-/HD-SDI inputs with a built-in dual-screen multiviewer, four SD-/HD-SDI outputs and two scalable DVI outputs, multiple keyers, four auxiliary busses, two picture-in-pictures, shot memory, and 3D effects for background and key inputs.
An optional full HD DVI dual-input board, the AV-HS04M8 ($2,640), will allow 1080p graphics or video from such sources as Blu-ray Disc to be integrated in the live production workflow. The multiviewer allows users to see up to 16 images on a single screen, or up to 20 (a maximum of 10 images on each) on two screens. The outputs can also be used to drive large-screen displays for specific applications.
Supported formats include 1080/59.94i, 1080/24Psf, 1080/23.98Psf, 720/59.94p, and 480/59.94i. Optional boards originally built for the eight-input AV-HS400A switcher are compatible with the HS450, enabling upconversion, downconversion and scaling of more formats. A redundant power supply is also on board.
