We’re working on a variety of projects currently. I can’t discuss specifics since we signed NDA’s but we’re working on a few campaigns for FX, Red Bull, Disney and a Smoke Free commercial currently. Also, we’re planning another internal project.
2. What have you found is the best tool or innovation that has come out in the last year?
I know I should probably say some new computer program but it’s got to be the new iPhone 3Gs. I loved my old one but the new version is amazing! I find myself taking stills, audio and video of everything for reference, notes, simple backgrounds, etc. I even tried to video a commercial that we can’t find online while in the dentist chair over the weekend. He thought I was a little strange. Plus I probably write about 50 emails a day from it. Would that be considered an addiction? Maybe I should start a I.A. support group! Trust me, I’m not the only one who would sign up. Have you walked around LA or NY lately?
There’s been a ton of different spots I’ve been into the last year but most recently I’ve really been impressed with the new Prius spots, made up of the hundreds of people dressed and moving to form the environment it drives through. It’s a nice looking, fun spot and knowing what went into the planning and execution really impressed me. I usually like anything that’s different like that.
Even though I’ve loved working on different projects for different reasons, I’d have to say our own short project "Monkey Island" was my recent favorite. It just came about so natural with no one telling us what we could or couldn’t do. We would brain storm a few ideas and then just do it. Plus we did the character voices ourselves. Recording the monkey songs in the second half was hilarious. We had to do a lot of takes between the laughing. It’s always a great feeling though to see any project finish smoothly and know you pushed it creatively as far as you could. That’s why we do what we do when we can do it. Say that 10 times.
5. Name the top 4 artists on your iPod?
Rough question!!! I use to run a record shop for years while learning all about Motion Design. So, I go through phases of different music and periods. So, I can’t give you 4. You’ll have to except the current 10.
2Pac
Outkast
Stone Temple Pilots
Linkin Park
Jay-Z
Kings of Leon
Ray Charles
Damian Marley
Beatles
Portishead
Wow, now I feel like Jack Black in High Fidelity… so sad.
