There’s this thing called insurance that most people have on their home, car, health, life … but it’s the kind of thing you really hope you never have to use. Such would be the case with a company called Aero Quartet and their Movie Repair for Video Professionals. It looks to operate like this: if you have a movie file that seems to be corrupted and can’t be opened, you download a piece of software called Treasured which can diagnose the file in question. That software helps to file a Repair Request. You are then sent a Repair Kit that will try and repair the file. If you are happy with what you see you then pay for the repair to get the full file. Prices start at $89 and the site claims a success rate of over 90%.
They support quite a large number of file formats, and possibly more. If you have a damaged file not listed below the you should contact the company as they will attempt to recover it as well:
- MPEG4 family (MPEG-4 Video, DivX, Xvid, 3ivx)
- MPEG-1, MPEG-2
- DV (PAL, NSTC)
- DVCPro50
- DVCPro HD (main profiles, 720p, 1080i60, 1080i50)
- JPEG family
- HDV
- H264
- Intermediate
- ProRes422
- XDCAM
Like insurance, this service is nice to have around. And like insurance I hope I never have to use the service but it’s nice to know it’s there if I need it. Have you used this Movie Repair service or know of other similar service? If so please comment below and let us know.
