Award-winning director Phil Brown has signed with Venice, CA-based Backyard. Honored at Cannes Lions, Promax and Bessie awards, Brown comes to Backyard from Tate USA. He will continue to be repped by Industry Films in Canada. Brown has gained a reputation as a visual director whose work often reflects a candid-but-stylized realism on scales both large and small. His talents are best showcased in high profile campaigns for VW, The Canadian Ministry of Energy and Pfizer. Prior to Tate USA, Brown was on the roster at Partizan.
Says the UK-born, Toronto-based director, “I was drawn to Backyard because they’re very enlightened to things going on in the marketplace and they’ve managed to create a genuine family feel within the company. I felt instantly comfortable.” Backyard Partner / EP Blair Stribley adds, "Phil's work has a very nice human element… Sometimes heart warming, sometimes slightly humorous. He also has the strong ability to tell stories with authentic visuals. We're very excited to have him on our roster."
