Verari incorporates high density drives to increase energy efficient storage capacity of up to 26PB in second generation FOREST Container and up to 1.3PB in BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms

Verari Systems, a premier developer of scale-out blade-based computing and storage platforms for the data center with the highest density, availability, and energy efficiency in the market, today announced that its award-winning FOREST Container now contains an increased storage capacity of 26PB, the highest containerized data center storage density available. In addition, Verari’s highly scalable BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms can now support up to 1.3PB of storage per platform in just two computer room floor tiles.
By integrating 2TB hard drives into its family of blade-based storage platforms for Cloud, Web 2.0, and the global enterprise, Verari is providing the industry’s most energy efficient and highest density scale-out compute and storage platforms for the world’s largest data centers that reduce power and cooling demands while achieving cost-effective performance for the highest total value of ownership (TVO).

“We’ve engineered the latest 2TB hard drives into our compute and storage products to deliver an unprecedented scale-out solution ideal for Cloud service providers, Web 2.0, and high performance business applications,” said Dan Gatti, senior vice president of Worldwide Market Operations, Verari Systems. “Verari is unleashing the highest density storage per square foot on the most energy efficient platforms to customers who cannot compete without the total value that’s delivered by our FOREST Container and BladeRack 2 based solutions.”

Verari’s FOREST Container houses the BladeRack 2 X-Series of blades in an industry standard form factor (40′ x 8.0′ x 9.5′). Up to 2,880 servers or 26PB of storage capacity can be rapidly deployed at about 50% of the capital and operating expense of traditional brick-and-mortar data centers. Energy spending is dramatically reduced by the Verari FOREST Container’s ultra-efficient power subsystems and patented Vertical Cooling Technology, which boosts reliability, density, and performance. Verari’s FOREST Container was recently selected as a winner in the Energy Efficient Products: Facilities category of the 2009 Green Enterprise IT (GEIT) Awards, presented by the Uptime Institute and co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

“We’ve combined   2 TB hard drives with Verari’s innovative, blade-based technology to give customers a competitive weapon,” said Eric Seidman, product manager, storage division of Verari Systems. “We’re meeting the requirements of high performance businesses, such as Cloud service providers, Web 2.0, and the high performance enterprise, by deploying green data centers that deliver the lowest TCO, the best energy efficiency and density, and the fastest time to market.

Verari’s product managers have announced that solutions with 2TB hard drives are immediately available for the FOREST Container, BladeRack 2 X-Series blade platforms and rackmount solutions.
