Press Release

Mumbai, India post and DI house, FutureWorks, has just completed post production of a music video promoting The One Drop Foundation (http://www.onedrop.org) on its Quantel Pablo and Genetic Engineering systems. The video, directed by Deepak Ghatani for Contiloe Films, features a song performed by double Oscar winning composer AR Rahman. The whole post production process was completed in just one day, from loading the RED-shot footage into the Pablo using the new RED Rocket to carrying out the conform, color correction and production of deliverables.
FutureWorks Head of DI Rahul Purav was at the controls throughout. “The Pablo gives us all the options for ingesting .r3d files with full control. With the RED Rocket installed, we were able to ingest the data four times faster and see what we were getting as it came in so we could adjust parameters on-the-fly,” Purav recalls. “I don’t think there’s any other way this job could have been completed start to finish in a day. Without Quantel, post production would have required the use of several different systems and many people getting involved.”

“Working on the Pablo is a dream come true for me,” Purav continues. “With all the control of color, editing, assembly, multi-layering, Paintbox and deliverables tools it’s a perfect blend of a color grading room and a high-end compositing suite. For this video, I was able to ensure that the whites remained very clean without affecting skin tones while giving prominence to just the blues and greens to meet the Director’s desire to reflect the director’s vision.”

FutureWorks has gained considerable expertise in handling RED-shot projects on its Pablo and Genetic Engineering systems, including music videos for Jermaine Jackson, Adnaan Sammi and the well-known Director and DoP, Sanjay F Gupta. The latest RED project requires FutureWorks to look after on-location data management, look design and all of the post production for the forthcoming big-budget Indian movie ‘Raktha Charitra’ (‘Cycle of Blood’) directed by Ram Gopal Varma.
